Any ideas?

Michael and I both did not grow up in homes that did family home evening. WE are really trying to do this in our own family, but we just have no clue really what to do that includes the gospel that can involve two little girls. I know there are some of you with young families and others who had young families once. What do/did you do for family home evening? We are pretty clueless! Please send me your ideas! ALL OF THEM! :) Thanks sooo much for your help and input! We really do appreciate it!

First I'll say Good Luck with FHE and kids. It's hard, but eventually they get it all figured out...so I've heard. Our FHE nights last between 10 and 15 minutes, that includes the songs, prayers, and lesson. We have scripture pictures, a few of the living scriptures videos, a book of 5 minute Bible stories, and some great 3-ring binders of activities that my Grandma put together for us.

Our lessons are to read a story, or learn about the picture. After about 5 minutes, sometimes after only 2 minutes, the kids are running around and wild again. We are making slow progress on them staying focused till the end. Every now and then we are able to come up with a fun game to go along with our "theme". We watched Joseph of Egypt and packed up food storage at my mom's house one time. With little youngins they have fun doing anything with mom and dad, even if it's just playing at a park and talking about everything that Heavenly Father and Jesus created for us to enjoy. Don't get frustrated if you think they didn't listen to anything or pay attention; somehow it gets through and you'll be surprised when they are talking about something from FHE a week later. The new nursery lesson manual is great, and has lots to do with young kids. You can get a copy from church distribution.

The most "important" part is the treat after. :-D Our boys love that part.

Stick to it and soon they can start helping with the lessons, etc.
